In a funeral Mass, we entrust to God’s eternal care the lives that God had entrusted to our earthly care. We pray. We celebrate. We give thanks.

That is why it is such a great blessing to celebrate together a Catholic funeral Mass. (The Mass is also called “Eucharist,” which means “thanksgiving.”) In this celebration, we recognize the loss that comes from our great love. And we entrust this love and the life of our loved ones to the eternal care of our God, who is Love.
